A Bit About Me

Donato Celentano is a versatile baritone, educator, and piano technician based in Baltimore. He currently serves as a piano technician at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins, where he maintains and prepares instruments for students, faculty, and visiting artists. Donato is also a member of the distinguished team at PianoCraft, one of the nation’s premier piano rebuilding companies, whose meticulously restored instruments have been featured at renowned venues including the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and the White House.

Trained under Renee Kelsey and John Kopako, renowned technicians who have served the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Tanglewood Opera, Donato specializes in precision tuning, regulation, and restoration. His approach blends meticulous craftsmanship with a deep musical sensitivity, ensuring each instrument performs at its highest artistic potential.

In his teaching, Donato emphasizes healthy, sustainable singing grounded in vocal anatomy, the Alexander Technique, and actor-centered performance training, helping singers develop both technical mastery and expressive authenticity.

As a performer, Donato’s work spans opera, oratorio, art song, musical theatre, jazz, and blues. He has performed as a featured soloist with the Vienna Boys Choir in Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Requiem, and has sung backup for Barry Manilow and Queen Latifah. He earned his Bachelor of Music from the Boston Conservatory and his Master of Music from the Peabody Institute.
